Lakeport California
Welcome to Christine Justice's Lakeport California blog.
We are an agricultural community in Lake county that is celebrating
150 years!
We are North East of the
Golden Gate Bridge, which is celebrating it's 75th anniversary in 2012.
Lake County had the first wine appellation in the state of California. Yes, even before Napa county!
We have a town called Nice like Nice in France.
We have a town called Lucerne because it looks like Switzerland.
Clearlake is considered the oldest natural living lake on the North American continent. Some say it may possibly be the oldest lake in the world. There is a dormant but live volcano named Mount Konocti after a POMO Indigenous Chieftain. Rumor has it that his daughter, Lupyloma sacrificed herself by jumping into the volcano named Mt. KONOCTI. She is remembered by a street, LUPYLOMA, in her name. There are several Indigenous Tribes which claim rights to minerals.livestock, land, real estate, and casinos. The casinos are popular with tourists who visit Lake county year around.
